Why this site exists

Why I built Overboard

Overboard is my project exploring whether AI coaching can give useful, honest guidance to competitive youth sailors. The AI coach is programmed by me and given its information by qualified sailing coaches, I wrote its instructions and built its knowledge from interviews with real coaches. Its advice gets checked against feedback from my club coach. This site is a work in progress, and the training content here is researched from published sources and structured to support sailors across all dinghy classes.

Scope

What this site is and isn't

This site is a young sailor's exploration of whether AI can support training. It is not a replacement for a real coach, a qualified strength coach, or a sports nutritionist. Athletes should check training and nutrition plans with a qualified coach before applying them.

The breakthrough

In July 2024, I competed in the Open Skiff World Championships and placed 4th overall in the Silver Fleet, among Bronze, Silver, and Gold fleets, and secured a 2nd place finish in one of the races. A huge milestone that's pushed me to train even harder since.

I'm currently ranked India's Best Open Skiff Sailor across 6 regattas, I've won 3 of them.
